In 1912 he gained a First Class Pass with Distinction in London University Matriculation in Book Keeping.
He served as Private 1988 Surrey Yeomanry then was commissioned as a 2nd Lt into The 12th London Regiment (The Rangers).
He died of wounds on 10th July 1917.
